I had some brilliant news this week.  My Afternoon Tea at the Sunflower Cafe was the 12th most borrowed book in UK libraries last year. There were only 3 women in the top 20 – Paula Hawkins and Harper Lee (I can live with that company) and mine was the only RomCom.  To say I am chuffed is an understatement. The figures are enormous – which does go to show that people are still going in libraries and still borrowing books.  So keep them open!  And cock off to those who say that they’re a waste of money!  Below the competition are the lists of most borrowed books in the UK – and in Yorkshire, for your interest.

(And if you are looking for a bargain – may I guide you to 3 of my books which are half-price on Amazon this week! Just click here.  And DO sign up to my newsletter.  People who have so far have won Kindles, cream teas, books, ICE pens, chocolate hampers, goody hampers, goods from Lakeland, The Literary Gift Company, Sciolti Chocolates, Yorkshire Tea, book handbags… and much much more – just sign up here!)

Today’s competition is for a gorgeous FACING THE BLANK PAGE notebook from The Literary Gift Company.  And if you like book-related gifts – you must go and check out this store.

This is a notepad.  Open up the first page, feel the fear and start writing.  It’s like diving off the side of a swimming pool – once you are in the water is lovely!

All you have to do is tell me what the first sentence of the book YOU write would be.  Thrill me!  Best answer gets this in the post.

Send your answer here and pop back tomorrow for yet another competition.

COMP ENDS MONDAY 6TH FEB MIDNIGHT. Uk only folks – and one entry per person!

Good luck x
